authorDavis A. Young is Professor of Geology, Emeritus, of Calvin College, Grand Rapids, MI. A native of Pennsylvania, Dr. Young was educated at Princeton University, Pennsylvania State University, and Brown University, where he received his Ph.D. in geological sciences in 1969. Young taught geology at New York University, the University of North Carolina at Wilmington, and, for 26 years, at Calvin College. His special interest is in igneous petrology. In addition to technical articles in that field Young has written numerous books and articles concerning the history of geology and the intersection between Christianity and geology. In 2009, the Geological Society of America presented Dr. Young with the Mary C. Rabbitt Award for fundamental contributions to the history of geology. Young is a fellow of the Geological Society of America and the American Scientific Affiliation, as well as a member of the Mineralogical Society of America, the International Commission on the History of Geology, and the Affiliation of Christian Geologists. Since his retirement from Calvin College in 2004 Young has lived with his wife in Tucson, AZ, where they are members of Dove Mountain Presbyterian Church.
